There was a school program that embraced learning and social activities with people around. It called “Trip and Observation”. It held on Wednesday, 3rd September 2014 and Thursday, 4th September 2014. Most students liked it. They could hang out with their friends. They may be bored with learning in the classroom. On the other hand, they need socialize with people outside of the school environment.
Before leaving school on Wednesday morning, all 8th grade students gathered in the hall hearing of the principal’s advices. “Trip and Observation” only for the 8th grade students. I teach the 8th grade students, so school asked me to accompany them. We went to Kampung Situ Udik, Cibungbulang, Bogor by bus. It took more than 3 hours to get there. What a long distance….
People of the village welcomed us friendly. The host provided snacks such as fried bananas and bakwans. Then, all of us gathered in front of Pa Haji’s house. He is the most respected figures in that village. He had a huge house that can be used to be “dapur umum”. We had lunch there. Before having lunch, we took our bags to some people’s houses that have been appointed. Each of houses inhabited by a teacher and six students.
We’re divided into some groups. My group must plant rice in the paddy field. Unfortunately, were not able to practice for growing rice. Another groups had to grind rice, frying ranginang, bathing buffalo, feeding the fish, and cleaning the mosque. In the afternoon, students played soccer and other games against the children of the village. Finally, after having dinner, all the winners were announced and given prizes. We also donated money, carpets, and Al Qur’an for their mosque.
On the next day, before having breakfast we took a walk around the village while breathing fresh air in there. We passed many fields and houses. After taking shower, we went home. Pa haji and people there were happy with our presence. They hope we will come again next year.
